Good luck to two Marconi Blues

Both Football NSW and Football Queensland have announced that their best men and women players will compete in State V State matches with the first to be played in December.

Marconi Stallions are happy to announce that goalkeeper Nenad Vekic and defender Giorgio Speranza have been selected.

Head Coach Peter Tsekenis believes the two boys are worthy of the NSW selection.

“I am very happy for the boys, they have been strong performers for Marconi”, Tsekenis said.

I think the concept of the competition is brilliant and the boys will make their State proud.”

The first match will be played in Brisbane on Saturday, 12 December 2020 with the second match in Sydney next year.

Vekic believes the competition is a step forward for Australian football.

“The competition is very exciting as it’s another opportunity for us to showcase our talent as NPL players,” Vekic explained.

On top of that there is a bit of rivalry between States with the State of Origin and now with this competition. I think it is great.”

The squad will train out of Football NSW’s Valentine Sports Park in preparation for the first match.

“I think this is a fantastic concept for the NPL, and will certainly attract many football fans across the country, particularly in NSW and QLD,” Speranza said.

Blood, sweat and tears are typically what Origin football is all about, and I’m sure the fans will expect nothing less, so I can’t wait to get out there and do my club, Marconi, and my state, NSW, proud.”

It is planned that the competition will become an important annual event.
